The Center in Beijing hosted a reception to bring together interns, language students, graduate students and alumni who were in China this summer. The event centered on an Alumni Career Panel, the fifth in a quarterly series, which provided an opportunity for students to learn more about returning to China for advanced studies, additional internships, or careers. Both the summer panel and this spring’s panel featured young alumni of the College, the Booth School of Business, and the MAPSS program, who shared their own stories about graduating from the University of Chicago, studying Mandarin in China and building international careers.

This reception was also the third annual get-together held in honor of University of Chicago undergraduates participating in summertime Jeff Metcalf Internships in China. Metcalf interns from the new Wanxiang Ambassador Fellows Program in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, visited Beijing in mid-July and joined other local Metcalf interns at the UChicago Center to celebrate.
