Milton Friedman: Personal Reflections and  Professional Intersections


James Chadam, AB’90, and Jennifer Chadam invited alumni to welcome back John W. Boyer, AM’69, PhD’75, dean of the College, to Singapore, and listen to University of Chicago economist Allen Sanderson’s lecture on the 100th anniversary of Milton Friedman’s birth. Sanderson examined the contributions of this Nobel laureate to the economics profession, public policy and the University of Chicago campus through the eyes of students, colleagues and friends who knew him best.

The University of Chicago’s Office of Alumni Relations and Development presented John W. Boyer, AM’69, PhD’75, dean of the College, to Hong Kong, in conjunction with University of Chicago economist Allen Sanderson’s examination of the relationship between the material standard of living and reported well-being for individuals and societies and discusses changes in living standards over the long sweep of human history.
