The Paulson Institute at the University of Chicago and the Center in Beijing co-hosted a reception and Q&A with Henry Paulson, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. At the Hyatt in Beijing, Secretary Paulson gave brief remarks, took questions, signed copies of his book and posed for photographs with members of an audience largely composed of UofC alumni, students, and other friends of the Paulson Institute and the Center in Beijing.
The Paulson Institute was established in 2011 by Henry M. Paulson, Jr., the former United States Secretary of the Treasury and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs, the Institute’s initial focus is to facilitate concrete actions by businesses and governments in the United States and China—the world’s two largest economies and energy consumers.
Specifically, the Paulson Institute fosters international engagement to achieve three objectives:
1. To increase cross investment, leading to the creation of jobs.
2. To support energy efficiency, develop and deploy clean energy for sustainable growth, and promote better environmental practices.
3. To promote sound corporate governance and best business practices on issues of international concern.
