From October 16-18, 2014, “Wuhan University International Symposium on Advanced Pathology: Practice, Research and Teaching” was co-organized in Wuhan by Wuhan University School of Medicine and The University of Chicago Center in Beijing. Four professors from University of Chicago Medicine, Prof. Thomas Krausz, Academician of Royal College of Pathology, Director of the Department of Anatomy and Surgical Pathology, Prof. John Hart, Prof. Shu-Yuan Xiao and Prof. Jason Cheng from the Department of Pathology were invited to speak at the symposium.

After the symposium, “Wuhan University School of Medicine Development Forum on Pathology and Appointment Ceremony of Honorary Professor and Special Consultant” was held on October 19, 2014. The four University of Chicago professors were appointed Honorary Professors of Wuhan University School of Medicine by Wuhan University Vice President Chuanzhong Wang.

After their trip to Wuhan, Professors Thomas Krausz, John Hart and Shu-Yuan Xiao came to Beijing at the invitation of Peking University Pathology Center to lecture at their “Surgical Pathology Training Course”.

The program, a national credit-bearing course for in-service professional development, dedicated each UChicago professor with 40 minutes to present in detail their research in the field of liver tumor, lipogenic tumor and IBD pathology.  Chinese doctors were also able to share their up-to-date research in GI, soft tissue tumor and hematopathology.
