On the afternoon of May 16, alumni of UChicago, Cambridge, and Oxford sat down at the University of Chicago Center in Beijing and listened to two interesting presentations on how regular and scientifically arranged exercise as well as careful diets can benefit health. Dr. Jing LI, Chief of Internal Medicine and Deputy Director, Athletes Medical Center of the Sports Hospital, China Institute of Sport Science, General Administration of Sports of China, shared a very informative talk on what it means by “Exercise is medicine and exercise is nutrition” and how exercise can be of such. Mr. Shan Jin, University of Chicago alumnus and founder of Zhuoyue Qingying, a diet and health watcher company, reminded the participants the option of “fast”. The two presentations were followed by heated discussion and exchange on personal experiences in keeping exercise and healthy diet from the audience.
Ms. Yaping Deng, Deputy Secretary General of the People’s Daily and former Chinese table tennis player, who won six world championships and four Olympic championships between 1989 and 1997, taking the lead in organizing alums of Cambridge and Oxford to the event, shared her own experience and understanding over the topic of the day.
The event was co-organized by the University of Chicago Beijing Alumni Club led by Dr. Paul Wang.
