Family and Community Medicine Workshop

Through May 15, 2012

May 14

The Family and Community Medicine Workshop series will offer two annual faculty development workshops per year over two years at the University of Chicago Center in Beijing.  (The second 2012 workshop in this series will be October 22-23.)

The aim of these academic events will be to bring participants together to work on creation of ambulatory based medical curriculum and experiences teaching family medicine to medical students and physicians in China. The event will present an overview of how this outpatient curriculum is taught in the United States and in China. We will then present the collaborative efforts between Chicago and China currently, and compare and contrast them to current efforts in China. We will also provide faculty development workshops on how to approach teaching medicine in ambulatory settings. Finally, we will discuss how we can move this effort forward in the future and collaborate to secure future project funding. The main participants will include past and present faculty from the University of Chicago, Wuhan University Medical School, China Medical University, Capital Medical University, Shandong University, and Peking University.
