This event was part of an award selection process for a writer, scholar or translator who has made important contributions to the writing, research, and promotion of Chinese literature. Three candidates were selected by a preliminary panel composed of five famous writers, critics and scholars. Then, 21 postgraduate students, mainly from Renmin University’s creative writing program, formed the final panel, they discussed, selected, and approved the winner. This was the second of what will be an annual event held at the Center, initiated by Lianke YAN, a renowned writer in China and a professor at Renmin University. The Beijing Center provided facilities and staff support to this event honoring Tianwen ZHU, a famous writer from Taiwan. More than 180 people attended.
