ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
This year’s conference focuses on the multidisciplinary approach necessary to treat patients with abdominal solid tumors. There is a strong emphasis on the new techniques and approaches to these tumors, but also highlights leaders in gastroenterology and medical oncology fields.
This conference will examine both the science and art of providing these advanced treatments to patients with solid tumors.
In China, the clinical experience with these tumors is extensive given the population and incidence of disease, but the scientific assessment of the various clinical scenarios continues to lag. In the past several years, the treatment paradigms are shifting with increased use of monoclonal antibodies, cellular therapy, radiation and laparoscopic and surgical robots to treat many solid tumors. The faculty for this conference is very international with 14 faculty from outside of China. This wide variety of speakers will enable us to learn how other parts of the world treat similar diseases and hopefully allow us to incorporate these different techniques into our practice. Several faculty members within the University of Chicago Department of Surgery and Peking Union Medical College play key editorial roles at major American and international GI/hepatobiliary journals and will help define the steps for a successful academic career based on providing care for patients with solid tumors.
