On the evening of January 23, the University of Chicago Center in Beijing welcomed 20 newly admitted Harris School of Public Policy students and their parents with a reception. Ranjan Daniels, Associate Dean of Student Recruitment and Global Outreach at the Harris School of Public Policy, hosted the reception and had a lively exchange with students about what the University has to offer. Besides getting to know each student, Daniels also gave an overview of the Masters in Public Policy program at Harris. With an emphasis on the career development resources available to students, Daniel’s presentation addressed all the questions students have, ranging from research and teaching opportunities, scholarship application, curriculum to safety concerns and student organizations. Some special features of the Master’s degree program at Harris, such as the Policy Lab and the mentor program, were also mentioned in the presentation. Students were very engaged in asking questions and getting to know their future classmates.
In addition to hosting the reception, Daniels was also accompanied by staff at the Center in Beijing to visit several government agencies and institutions, including China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), Sinopharm and the University of International Business and Economics to discuss potential collaborative opportunities in the field of health policy, drug evaluation and hospital management. The Double Executive Master’s in Health Policy, a new two-year joint degree program launched by Harris and the London School of Economics this year, was also introduced during the meetings.
