CCIPE Delegation Visit

The University of Chicago Center in Beijing enthusiastically welcomed a delegation of 60 professional educators and officials from several Chinese universities nationwide and different provincial Departments of Education, to learn more about the Center’s role as a bridge between the University of Chicago and China. This visit was part of a training program organized by the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange (CCIPE).

Dedicated to promoting high-level exchanges between Chinese organizations and their counterparts abroad, CCIPE aimed to train this delegation on how to better promote people-to-people exchanges by organizing lectures for them and taking them on a field visit. In addition to the Center in Beijing, the delegation also visited the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China.

As Interim Executive Director of the Center in Beijing, Ji YUAN guided the delegates on a tour of the Center’s facilities, with many delegates enthralled by the student lounge’s raptor fossil and this season’s art installations by Chinese artist Wen Fang. Following the complete tour, the delegation reunited in the Center’s event space to learn about the University of Chicago. As a long-time staff member of the Center in Beijing, Mr. Yuan detailed the Center’s purpose to build strong ties with local academic institutions through student programming, as well as engaging academic conferences on various topics. To enrich the delegation’s understanding of the University of Chicago, he also spoke about the University’s long history, its unique approach to learning, as well as the University’s deep connection with China.
